My daughter celebrated her first Halloween this year and went to her first Harvest party.  She had a ball.  Running around and playing with the other children was the highlight of her day.  I am really not keen on raising her to celebrate Halloween in the traditional manner with the ghouls and goblins. However,  I do like the Harvest parties that many churches and organizations have as a safe and fun way to celebrate the beginning of fall.

We were invited to attend a Hallelujah Harvest party at  Joy Baptist Church in Westland, MI  by one their members, Dicey.  I met Dicey while I was shopping at Target with my mom and my daughter one Saturdayand she  invited us to attend the Harvest party at her church.  While we were at the party, the members were so kind and welcoming that I will definitely be visiting again for their Sunday service.

There was plenty of food and lots of activities for all ages including  hay rides, a candy hay mound and a bonfire.  There was also a chilli cook-off and Smore’s by the bonfire.  The festivities ended with the trunk or treating.  My daughter has more candy than she could ever eat, but mommy is willing to make the sacrifice and help her eat some of it.
